Bra fitting guidelines
We have put together a list of tips to make sure that you get the perfect fit.
- The proper way to put on a bra is to bend forward and lower your breasts into the cup. You can then stand up and adjust yourself comfortably into the bra.
- One way to check if an underwire is sitting properly is to push it gently against your body. If it feels soft, the underwire is resting on your breast tissue and you need to try a larger cup size. If it feels firm, it is resting on your ribcage, which means it fits correctly.
- Always fasten a new bra on the loosest hooks, as this will allow you to move onto the tighter hooks as the bra loosens due to wear and washing. The band should be snug but you should still be able to run your finger along the inside comfortably.
- And, finally, we recommend that you try your bra on under a tight fitting top to make sure that it gives you the silhouette you would like.
What a properly fitting bra looks like
- The front of the bra sits flat against the chest.
- The underwire sits flat against the ribcage, and follows the natural line of the breast.
- The cup fits the breast, with no bulging or gape at the top.
- The straps sit comfortably on the shoulders.
- It is important to move around in your bra to ensure that it feels comfortable. Lift your arms above your head and check that the bra does not ride up.
- The straps sit slightly v-shaped at the back, equally adjusted to ensure even support.
- The back of your bra should fit snugly around the narrowest part of your back and be at the same level as the front.
- The underband is comfortably fitted.
